President Signs Bill Overhauling Consumer Product Safety Laws

USA - Federal - Restricted Substances Overview

On August 14, 2008, President Bush signed the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (“Act”). The legislation, among other things, significantly increases the authority and funding of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), imposes new restrictions on lead and phthalates in children’s products, and imposes new consumer product safety requirements on a wide range of consumer products.
