South Korea - BatteriesQuestion:Would a home music system be included in the scope of covered products under Korea WEEE? The definition in the Enforcement Ordinance is "audio cassette equipment (excluding portable hi-fi systems)"; the definition in the Enforcement Regulations is “Audio devices – Equipment providing audio functionality, whether they are components, stereos, etc.”; and the definition on EIA track is “audio and DVD in a single machine-type, and component system.” Would a home music system, with no DVD player (see EIA track definition above) be in scope? For this purpose, a "home music system" would be an MP3 player charger/docking station with speakers and a remote control. Additionally, a user could buy a box that enables digital music downloaded onto an MP3 player or a computer to play on speakers already owned by the customer and not purchased with the docking station. Basically, the product is a digital stereo system.
