European Union - Restricted Substances Overview

Question:

I had noted from past discussions that the use of leaded solders in Category 8 & 9 products may be removed as early as 2010-2012. I had not followed up on this issue for some time. With there being less specialised monitoring and control instruments or medical devices that could comply now with no adverse effects what is the status of allowing the continued use of leaded solders in these type of products?
