Minnesota Enacts Recycling Law for Video Display DevicesJune 6, 2007 USA - Minnesota - Product Take-BackOn May 8, 2007, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty signed a new law establishing a recycling program based on producer-responsibility. The law applies to “video display devices” (“VDDs”) which are defined as “a television or computer monitor, including a laptop computer, that contains a cathode-ray tube or a flat panel screen with a screen size that is greater than 9 inches measured diagonally and that is marketed by manufacturers for use by households.” The law specifically exempts all types of telephones with screens less than 9 inches, as well as other display devices such as displays that are part of larger commercial and industrial equipment, or part of a vehicle.
