EU-Wide Mercury Restrictions Effective As Of 3 April 2009

European Union - Mercury compounds

On 3 October 2007, the EU directive imposing restrictions on the use of mercury in certain measuring devices was published in the EU’s Official Journal. Directive 2007/51/EC of 25 September 2007 amends the “Marketing and Use Directive” (Directive 76/769). Directive 2007/51 must be implemented by the member states no later than 3 October 2008. Member states must apply these measures from 3 April 2009.
