Mexican Emergency Battery NOM Update

Mexico - Batteries

SEMARNAT, Mexico's federal environmental agency, continues to refine the Emergency Norma Oficial Mexicana ("NOM") that would impose content limits and certification requirements for batteries that become hazardous wastes at end-of-life. As earlier reported by EIATRACK, although the NOM could have been issued without public comment, SEMARNAT established a work group to provide informal comment on its provisions.
