EuP in The UK UpdateMarch 4, 2008 UK - Design for Environment, Energy EfficiencyThe United Kingdom (UK) has implemented the EU Directive on energy-using products (EuPs) through the Eco-Design for Energy-Using Products Regulations 2007 (SI 2007, 2037) (the "Eco-Design Regulations"). The law was adopted on 14 July 2007 and entered into force on 11 August 2007, which is the implementation date imposed by the EuP Directive. The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has issued guidance notes providing informal and non-binding interpretation of some of the Eco-Design Regulations' requirements, including the term placing on the market.
