Draft Standards on Chemical Management and Storage in Chile

Chile - Hazardous Waste, Restricted Substances Overview

Chile's Ministry of Health recently presented a first draft of the Hazardous Chemical Substances Storage Regulation (the "Draft Regulation"). The Draft Regulation, which would also apply to hazardous wastes, is much broader than its title would imply, providing a detailed framework for management of hazardous materials. Although it is does not restrict use of any substances, the Draft further indicates Chile’s new focus on hazardous chemicals. (See, e.g., Link below on Chile’s emerging mercury policy.)
