Common Methodology for the Calculation of Annual Sales of Portable Batteries to End-UsersMay 6, 2008 European Union - BatteriesThe European Commission is close to adopting a decision pursuant to the Battery Directive concerning a common methodology for calculating the number of portable batteries sold in the EU Member States each year. Under the Battery Directive, collection and recycling targets are to computed on the basis of annual sales. The Commission Decision would harmonize the methodology for these calculations across the EU.
