EuP in Slovenia Update

June 24, 2008

Slovenia - Design for Environment, Energy Efficiency

A Special Report Has been prepared that discusses the Slovenian legislation implementing the EU Directive on the eco-design of energy-using products (the "EuP Directive"). The EuP Directive is a framework directive; products are not subject to eco-design or energy efficiency requirements until implementing measures (so-called "Commission Directives") have been issued. The directive itself does not create legal obligations for manufacturers. Likewise, the Slovenian EuP Decree does not set forth any requirements applying to EuP products. Rather, it specifies that specific technical requirements applicable to manufacturers and importers of EuPs will be delineated by further implementing measures. The stated objective of the EuP Decree is ensuring the free movement of EuP products within the internal market.
