New Brazilian Bill Targets Batteries Used in Electronic ProductsJuly 8, 2008 Brazil - BatteriesA new battery take-back bill presented recently in Brazil's Chamber of Deputies would target batteries used in listed electronic equipment (Bill 3466/08 or the "Bill"). The Bill follows a recurring take-back formula calling for manufacturers and importers to collect their EOL products from merchants who are in turn obligated to install collection stations where consumers can dispose of the used goods. (See recent bill with very similar provisions at Link below.) As with similar take-back proposals, the initiative has been annexed to the Omnibus Waste Bill for joint consideration.
