Costa Rica Adopts National Waste Plan

Costa Rica - Hazardous Waste, Product Take-Back

Costa Rica has issued a Decree adopting its proposed Solid Waste Plan (Spanish acronym "PRESOL" or the "Plan"). See Link below for detailed coverage of the Plan.) As noted previously, the Plan incorporates EPR and calls for the approval of a WEEE Regulation in 2008. The Decree adopting the Plan calls for an inter-ministerial committee, headed by the Ministry of Health, to oversee its implementation. (See Decree 34647-S-MINAE.)
