City of Buenos Aires Issues Resolution Mandating Take-Back for Rechargeable Batteries, Piles

Argentina - Product Take-Back

On October 27, 2008, the City of Buenos Aires adopted Resolution No. 262-APRA/08 ("Resolution") mandating producers, importers and distributors, among others, to prepare, finance and implement collective or individual management plans for the take-back and final treatment of rechargeable batteries and piles. Management plans prepared in accordance with guidelines annexed to the Resolution must be submitted to the General Manager for Planning within the City’s Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) within 30 days of publication of the Resolution in the Official Bulletin, or November 26, 2008. Plans must be approved and implemented by February 1, 2009. This Resolution will affect all EIATRACK members who produce, import or distribute covered batteries.
