Draft Change to Toy Regulation Would Request Certifications of Substances in Imports in Chile

Chile - Restricted Substances Overview

Chile’s Ministry of Health recently posted a draft modification to its existing Toy Safety Regulation that would extend a restriction of substances provision to imported toys that already applies to locally produced goods. In light of the broad definition of a “toy,” the changes could impact electronics manufacturers who export covered products to Chile. Chile’s proposal comes at a time when regulation of chemical substances in toys is coming to the foreground in the U.S. and other jurisdictions. (See below for related Link.)
