Risk Reduction Strategy on PFOSAugust 31, 2004 UKThe UK government is conducting a risk management strategy for Perfluorooctane Sulphonte (PFOS) and substances that degrade from it. PFOS are used in metal plating, photolithography and semiconductors. A report was commissioned by the Environment Agency and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs after 3M (a major global producer of PFOS in the US) announced that it would phase-out the use of PFOS voluntarily from 2001 onwards.
