New Canadian Import and Export Rules Will Exclude Certain Types of Electronic Scrap

Canada - Federal - Transboundary Waste Shipments

Canada recently adopted new regulations that will ease restrictions on the import and export of waste electronics. The new regulations, which come into force on November 1, 2005, exclude certain electronic scrap from the import and export requirements. The new Regulations are intended to implement Canada’s obligations under the revised OECD Council Decision C(2001)107/FINAL and are in line with EIA advocacy efforts both in Canada and at the OECD level.
