Introduction
Argentina has ratified the Basel Convention under Law 23.922, although the principal implementing instrument for the Convention is considered to be Law 24.051 on Hazardous Wastes. Argentina bans the import of all hazardous wastes and strictly controls their export. The government has also implemented import bans on certain batteries that exceed content limits and on equipment containing PCBs. The import of non-hazardous wastes are subject to permitting requirements. Imports of used equipment are subject to separate permitting and other controls.
