Introduction
China has formulated or is planning to develop a number of legal requirements affecting labeling and packaging of electronic products at the national level. In addition, certain packaging-specific measures are found only in guidance-documents such as the General Rules for Packaging Waste Disposal and Utilization. These Rules provide general, recommendatory guidance for companies regarding the management of packaging waste.
Many of China’s municipalities have adopted bans or recycling mandates for particular food packaging. The Solid Waste Act also contains very general provisions requiring, among other things, that hazardous wastes be placed in suitable containers or packaging and be marked to indicate the presence of hazardous waste.
