Introduction
In the European Union, legislation has been laid down to restrict the presence of lead in products. Two Directives include legislative requirements for lead:
- lead restriction in packaging
- lead prohibition in electronics
Defined Restrictions:
Packaging: 100 ppm for sum of heavy metals (lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, and cadmium)
Electronics: Prohibition (suggested threshold limit is 0.1% by weight)
