Introduction

California has three laws that restrict the use of hexavalent chromium in electronic devices or product packaging.

  1. The Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003;

  2. The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65); and,

  3. The Toxics in Packaging Prevention Act.
