Introduction
In SwdenEU requirements on flame retardants are transposed into national law via the following requirements which a unique ban on DecaBDE:
- PentaBDE and OctaBDE restriction (applicable to all articles)
- TRIS, TEPA and PBB prohibition (applicable to textiles and textile articles)
- polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) prohibition in electronic
- Sweden restricts the usage of DecaBDE via The Chemicals Products (Handling, Import and Export Prohibitions) Ordinance (1998:944).
Defined Restrictions:
All articles: PentaBDE, OctaBDE and DecaBDE : limit (0.1% by mass)
Textiles: prohibition for TRIS, TEPA, PBB, decaBDE: limit (0.1% by weight)
Electronics: polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) : 0.1%
