Introduction

Under Manitoba's proposed Household Hazardous Waste (“HHW”) regulation, manufacturers and sellers of regulated products would be required to provide or subscribe to a product stewardship program, which would have to be submitted for review within 90 days of the effective date. Batteries, including lead acid (vehicle) batteries and button and rechargeable batteries, are considered a category of HHW in the proposal.

The full text of the proposed regulation is available on the Manitoba Conservation website. For more information regarding the proposal, see Product take-back & Recycling in Canada - Manitoba.
