Introduction

Through its regulations governing solid waste management, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (“DEP”) has prohibited the disposal, incineration, or transfer for disposal, at a solid waste disposal facility of cathode ray tubes. 310 CMR 19.017(3). All persons are required to segregate cathode ray tubes from the solid waste stream. 310 CMR 19.017(3)(b).

In addition to the DEP waste ban, Massachusetts is considering several forms of take-back legislation in the 2007-2008 legislative session. Please see the appropriate EIATRACK Matrices for updated information.
